“What is there to fear when we only live once. We have to be bold and do whatever we want to do in life.”

It’s been a while since I finished a KDrama TV series. Once again, I am once reminded of how brilliant KDrama writers are in how they narrate a heartwarming story that will make you cry, laugh, and learn life lessons. A few weeks ago, I finished watching “18 Again.”

18 Again, an adaptation of 17 Again (an American fantasy comedy film), is a drama that follows 37-year-old Hong Dae Young, who isn’t having much luck in life. He is looked down upon at work; is a bit estranged from his 18-year-old fraternal twins; and is in the midst of a divorce, although he has no idea why his wife, Jung Da Jung, wants to divorce him.

One of my main takeaways from this TV series is how regret can take us away from enjoying and cherishing the mundane moments we have with our family and friends. Sometimes, we allow so much of our time thinking about a thing that we have done in the past to the point that it ruins the present moment. We often forget how the past is just a figment of our imagination now. Rather than thinking about what we should have done, we must focus on the things that can be done moving forward in our lives. Do not let regret take so much of your time.

“No matter how old you get, there is always something new to learn. If you think of it as a regret, that is the end of it. But when you think of it as a lesson learned, it brings a new beginning. I will try to learn more from now on, whether it is about work, life, or love. So, I will try to find what I love to do again … I am going to spend my life without any regrets.” -Hong Dae Young

As the character, Hong Dae Young said, “What is there to fear when we only live once. We have to be bold and do whatever we want to do in life.”

I hope that after reading this, you’ll stop ruminating and start living. ♥️
