As we celebrate Women’s Month 👩 this March, let me share some tips on how I’ve connected with mentors whom I refer to as my “Council of Personal Growth and Development.”

I owe much of my current advocacy for women’s empowerment, sustainability, and youth engagement to the supportive women leaders around me.

If you’re like me and curious about exploring diverse sectors and fields, I encourage you to seek a mentor who can guide you.

Wondering how to find mentors who align with your goals? Here’s what I’ve learned through my own journey:

1. Get involved in organizations that match your interests and passions. Being part of a youth organization introduced me to people eager to discuss their advocacies.

2. Participate in exchange programs and conferences. Attending various events introduced me to professionals from government agencies, startups, and regional organizations open to sharing their expertise.

3. Enroll in learning programs related to your interests. In 2022, I joined programs like the Learn2Lead Sustainability Program, which connected me with inspiring individuals in the sustainability field.

4. Find a good boss and colleagues who will support your growth and be considerate no matter what. They play a significant role in shaping your professional journey. I also extend gratitude to all the organizational leaders I’ve had the privilege of working with, both past and present.

5. Explore mentorship programs tailored to your interests. Through programs like these, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting incredible women mentors who have supported me in my sustainability journey.

At the end of the day, let’s remember that mentorship is not just about age or experience; it’s about finding kindred spirits who inspire and uplift us. Whether they’re older, younger, or the same age, mentors play a pivotal role in our development.

As we navigate our paths, let’s cherish these relationships and approach mentorship as a collaborative journey of mutual growth and empowerment. ❤️
